Productivity

happier, healthier, more productive living

While it’s common to think of forgiveness as an individual practice, strategies are being developed for introducing the practice of forgiveness into the corporate culture.  Here are some points to consider:

Studies show that the work climate accounts for 20 to 30 percent of productivity.  (Campaign for Forgiveness Research).

Employees who are more forgiving have both better mental and physical health and demonstrate more productivity (Luther College)

Findings revealed that when organizations demonstrated and reinforced collective forgiveness – and other indicators of virtuousness – performance was significantly higher than in organizations that did not foster forgiveness.  Performance was measured by profitability, customer retention, quality, innovation, and employee turnover. This general finding was consistent across all three studies (University of Michigan, 2002).

Corporate Forgiveness refers to forgiveness between a boss and subordinate or between workers. The main idea is for a company to create a work environment in which people feel more comfortable apologizing for their mistakes, and, perhaps more importantly, where people can get past each other's transgressions, stop holding grudges, and refocus on the job at hand (Campaign for Forgiveness Research).
