Several years ago, I often found myself leaving work in the company of a particular colleague. As we would chitchat our way to the parking lot, I’d ask something akin to, “How was your day?” Without fail, the person would offer a shake of the head, a heavy sigh, and say
Last Saturday, we visited the wonderful nature center that’s only ten minutes from our home. Unaware that Earth Day celebrations were going on, we found ourselves joining about 300 others who were enjoying a beautiful spring day among trees, streams, birds, and several toddling humans.
Unbridled joy filled the air. We have a growing phenomenon in our town – the roundabout.
Intersections are being reworked into small circles, two lanes deep with two, three or four spoke-like roads coming away from them. I like them, but they’re wimpy. They pale in comparison to the big city roundabouts – three-to-five lanes deep with six, seven, even eight roads emanating from the hub. THAT’S a roundabout! |
